\u2018Bicycle climate\u2019: four minus for cycling in Eltville<\/h1>\n

Eltville, 17 June 2025. Again, not a good note for Eltville. The participants of the ADFC Cycling Climate Test 2024 rate the conditions for cyclists in their city at 4.15 on a school grade scale. This is a slight deterioration compared to the grade 4.0 in 2022. For the Rheingau-Taunus district, this result is almost the bottom line, only Idstein (4.25) and Taunusstein (4.35) score even worse. <\/span>(Note: This sentence was corrected on 25.06.2025. Originally it was erroneously referred to Schwalbach.)<\/em><\/p>\n

The municipalities of Wettringen in North Rhine-Westphalia, which occupies the absolute top position with a score of 1.55 in a nationwide comparison in the size class up to 20,000 inhabitants, show that things are completely different. Eltville has now fallen from 288th place in this group's 2022 survey to 341 (out of 474). Within Hesse, this ranks 57th out of 69 municipalities of similar size.<\/p>\n

False parking as a problem also for cycling<\/h3>\n

The respondents in Eltville criticized above all that the dormant traffic is insufficiently controlled. The ADFC has been promoting good cooperation in road traffic for years and ensuring that all road users abide by the rules of the game. If you park on walking or cycling paths, in the second row, in car sharing and disabled parking spaces or on parking spaces for electric cars, you endanger or hinder other traffic participants and make the switch to climate-friendly means of transport less attractive.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, wrongly parked cars and vans are the order of the day in Eltville. ADFC member Elke Tegeler from Eltville said: \"One example is the traffic-free area in front of Eltville station. False parkers are apparently tolerated there by the regulatory authorities. This leads to massive obstacles for buses and cyclists and very confusing and dangerous traffic situations.\u2019 In Wilhelmstra\u00dfe in front of the Eltviller station, there are the typical stop bays near the station and opportunities for short-term parking for up to two hours; they would be continuously misused for permanent parking. For quick tasks, drivers often parked in such a way that this endangered or hindered others.<\/p>\n

Little advertising for cycling<\/h3>\n

In addition, the respondents believe that there is too little advertising for cycling. The city is committed to sustainability and was awarded the German Sustainability Award in 2021. \u2018However, it does not live up to this claim in the context of the traffic transition\u2019, notes the ADFC Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus. As in previous years, the city took part in city cycling again in 2025, moreover, actions for the environmental network in Eltville were misrepresented.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Eltville performs very poorly with the traffic light circuits geared towards cyclists, the winter service on cycle paths and the lack of public bicycle leasing systems. However, the ADFC does not see this as a priority issue for a small town like Eltville.<\/p>\n

Pros: Great location and easy access to the city center<\/h3>\n

The fact that the one-way roads were already opened a few years ago for cycling in oncoming traffic is credited positively to the city. This measure is now normal in Eltville, as in many other cities, and has proved its worth. The good accessibility of the city center by bike also gets a good touch. An opportunity that the city could make even more of.<\/p>\n

About the ADFC bike climate test<\/h3>\n

The ADFC cycling climate test is the largest survey on cycling satisfaction in Germany. It is held every two years by the cycling club ADFC with the support of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport and took place for the eleventh time in 2024. In order for well-founded results to be achieved, at least 50, 75 or 100 voting results must be available, depending on the size of the city. The survey is open to all, but is aimed specifically at cyclists and is therefore not representative of the population. However, the results of the test are highly informative due to the broad public participation and can help municipalities to improve the offer for cyclists in a targeted manner.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

\u201eFahrrad-Klima\u201c: Vier minus f\u00fcr Radverkehr in Eltville<\/h1>

Eltville, 17. Juni 2025. Erneut keine gute Note f\u00fcr Eltville. Die Teilnehmenden des ADFC-Fahrradklima-Tests 2024 bewerten die Bedingungen f\u00fcr Radfahrende in ihrer Stadt mit 4,15 auf einer Schulnoten-Skala. Das ist eine leichte Verschlechterung gegen\u00fcber der Note 4,0 im Jahr 2022. F\u00fcr den Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis ist dieses Ergebnis fast das Schlusslicht, nur Idstein (4,25) und Taunusstein (4,35) schneiden noch schlechter ab. (Anmerkung: Dieser Satz wurde am 25.06.2025 korrigiert. Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde f\u00e4lschlicherweise auf Schwalbach verwiesen.)<\/em><\/p>

Dass es ganz anders geht, zeigt die Gemeinden Wettringen in Nordrhein-Westfalen, die mit der Note 1,55 im bundesweiten Vergleich in der Gr\u00f6\u00dfenklasse bis 20.000 Einwohner:innen den absoluten Spitzenplatz belegt. Eltville ist im Ranking dieser Gruppe von Platz 288 bei der Befragung 2022 jetzt auf 341 (von 474) abgerutscht. Innerhalb Hessens ergibt das Rang 57 von 69 Kommunen \u00e4hnlicher Gr\u00f6\u00dfe.<\/p>

Falschparker als Problem auch f\u00fcr den Radverkehr<\/h3>

Kritisiert wurde von den Befragten in Eltville vor allem, dass der ruhende Verkehr unzureichend kontrolliert wird. Der ADFC wirb seit Jahren f\u00fcr ein gutes Miteinander im Stra\u00dfenverkehr und daf\u00fcr, dass sich alle Verkehrsteilnehmende an die Spielregeln halten. Wer auf Geh- oder Radwegen, in zweiter Reihe, auf Carsharing- und Behinderten-Parkpl\u00e4tzen oder auf Stellpl\u00e4tzen f\u00fcr Elektroautos parkt, gef\u00e4hrdet oder behindert andere Verkehrsteilnehmende und macht den Umstieg auf klimaschonende Verkehrsmittel unattraktiver.<\/p>

In Eltville sind falsch parkende Pkw und Lieferwagen leider an der Tagesordnung. ADFC-Mitglied Elke Tegeler aus Eltville meint dazu: \u201eEin Beispiel ist der verkehrsrechtsfreie Raum vor dem Eltviller Bahnhof. Falschparker werden dort offenbar von den Ordnungsbeh\u00f6rden toleriert. Dies f\u00fchrt zu massiven Behinderungen der Linienbusse und Radfahrer und sehr un\u00fcbersichtlichen und gef\u00e4hrlichen Verkehrssituationen.\u201c In der Wilhelmstra\u00dfe vor dem Eltviller Bahnhof gibt es die in Bahnhofsn\u00e4he typischen Haltebuchten und Gelegenheiten zum Kurzzeit-Parken bis zu zwei Stunden;iese w\u00fcrden kontinuierlich f\u00fcrs Dauerparken missbraucht. F\u00fcr schnelle Erledigungen parkten Autofahrer dann h\u00e4ufig so, dass dies andere gef\u00e4hrde oder behindere.<\/p>

Wenig Werbung f\u00fcrs Radfahren<\/h3>

Au\u00dferdem meinen die Befragten, dass zu wenig Werbung f\u00fcr das Radfahren stattfindet. Die Stadt schreibt sich das Thema Nachhaltigkeit auf die Fahnen und wurde 2021 mit dem Deutschen Nachhaltigkeitspreis ausgezeichnet. \u201eBei der Verkehrswende wird sie diesem Anspruch allerdings nicht gerecht\u201c, stellt der ADFC Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus fest. Wie in den Vorjahren habe die Stadt zwar im Jahr 2025 wieder am Stadtradeln teilgenommen, dar\u00fcber hinaus sei bei Aktionen f\u00fcr den Umweltverbund in Eltville Fehlanzeige.<\/p>

Weiter schneidet Eltville bei den auf Radfahrende ausgerichteten Ampelschaltungen, dem Winterdienst auf Radwegen und den fehlenden \u00f6ffentlichen Fahrrad-Leihsystemen sehr schlecht ab. Der ADFC sieht dies jedoch f\u00fcr eine kleine Stadt wie Eltville nicht als vorrangige Probleme.<\/p>

Positiv: Ge\u00f6ffnete Einbahnstra\u00dfen und gute Erreichbarkeit des Stadtzentrums<\/h3>

Dass die Einbahnstra\u00dfen schon vor einigen Jahren f\u00fcrs Radfahren im Gegenverkehr ge\u00f6ffnet wurden, wird der Stadt positiv angerechnet. Diese Ma\u00dfnahme ist in Eltville wie in vielen anderen St\u00e4dten inzwischen Normalit\u00e4t und hat sich bew\u00e4hrt. Auch die gute Erreichbarkeit des Stadtzentrums mit dem Fahrrad bekommt eine gute Note. Eine Chance, aus der die Stadt noch mehr machen k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>

\u00dcber den ADFC-Fahrradklima-Test<\/h3>

Der ADFC-Fahrradklima-Test ist die gr\u00f6\u00dfte Umfrage zur Zufriedenheit der Radfahrenden in Deutschland. Er wird vom Fahrradclub ADFC alle zwei Jahre mit Unterst\u00fctzung des Bundesministeriums f\u00fcr Digitales und Verkehr durchgef\u00fchrt und fand 2024 zum elften Mal statt. Damit fundierte Ergebnisse erzielt werden k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcssen je nach Stadtgr\u00f6\u00dfe mindestens 50, 75 oder 100 Abstimmungsergebnisse vorliegen. Die Umfrage ist offen f\u00fcr alle, richtet sich jedoch speziell an die Radfahrenden und ist deshalb nicht repr\u00e4sentativ f\u00fcr die Bev\u00f6lkerung.
