Against bike clawing: ADFC bike club encodes bikes in June<\/h1>\n

Wiesbaden, 20.05.2026. The General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) offers three dates for bicycle coding in June. The individualized engraving in the frame helps to protect bicycles against theft or to find a stolen bike again.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The code engraves a code adapted to the owner, the so-called FEIN code, into the frame of the bicycle. The code contains, among other things, street and house number as well as the initials of the owner(s).
If a coded bike is found, the police can quickly use the numeric code to identify the rightful owner(s) of the bike. In addition, the coding makes a bike less attractive to thieves, as the sale of the bike is made more difficult.<\/p>\n

Prerequisites and costs<\/h3>\n

For coding, you should have the proof of purchase and the identity card with you \u2013 and some time. If you buy used bikes, bring the purchase contract with you. Carbon wheels cannot be coded. A encoding costs 15 \u20ac, for ADFC members even only 10 \u20ac.<\/p>\n
