Bicycle transport in the SEV of RB 10: ADFC praises VIAS and DB \u2013 improvements needed in parking facilities<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Wiesbaden, 19.07.2026<\/strong>: The Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus expressly welcomes the fact that 10 bicycles can be taken on the Rheingau line RB in rail replacement traffic (SEV). Many cyclists had feared in the run-up to the general refurbishment from 10 July 2026 that they would be rejected, as is often the case with SEV offers. However, a sample of the ADFC shows: The transport works, is uncomplicated and is supported by the bus companies used.<\/p>\n

\"The acceptance of bicycles in the SEV is an important signal for sustainable mobility in the Rheingau region\", explains Elke Tegeler, Member of the Board of ADFC Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus. \u201cEspecially here, where cycling and wine tourism play a major role, the combination of train and bicycle is essential. It is therefore all the more gratifying that VIAS and Deutsche Bahn have created this possibility.\u2019<\/p>\n

The ADFC had already pointed out the needs of cyclists at an early stage during the months-long closure and demanded a take-away option. The fact that this has now been implemented shows: SEV can be designed to be bicycle-friendly. In many regions, cyclists report experiences to the contrary \u2013 denied boarding or unsuitable vehicles. The current solution in the Rheingau proves that it is also customer-friendly.<\/p>\n

The VIAS website states that it is not recommended to take a bicycle from Monday to Friday between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm and between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. This information is understandable, as the buses are busy at these times. However, the remaining time window for taking a car is very small and does not meet the mobility needs of many cyclists, especially commuters.<\/p>\n

The ADFC also sees a need for action with regard to the parking possibilities at newly established SEV stops. There is a lack of secure bicycle parking facilities at several locations, such as the \u2018Burg Crass\u2019 stop in Eltville. Especially when transport options can be limited, cyclists must be able to park their bikes safely. ADFC and police point out that stable storage bars are necessary to be able to connect bicycles with frame, front and rear wheel. \"Connect, not just lock\" remains the central principle of theft prevention.<\/p>\n

How the situation develops after the summer holidays, when more commuters and students are on the way, remains to be seen. The ADFC will closely monitor the situation and stands ready to discuss further improvements together with VIAS and DB.<\/p>\n

\"We are pleased with this positive signal and hope that bicycle transport in the SEV will become a matter of course everywhere in the future,\" continued Tegeler.<\/p>\n

Fahrradmitnahme im SEV der RB\u202f10: ADFC lobt VIAS und DB \u2013 Verbesserungen bei den Abstellm\u00f6glichkeiten notwendig<\/strong><\/h1>

Wiesbaden, 19.07.2026<\/strong>: Der Allgemeine Deutsche Fahrrad-Club (ADFC) Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus begr\u00fc\u00dft ausdr\u00fccklich, dass im Schienenersatzverkehr (SEV) f\u00fcr die RheingauLinie RB\u202f10 Fahrr\u00e4der mitgenommen werden k\u00f6nnen. Viele Radfahrende hatten im Vorfeld der Generalsanierung ab dem 10. Juli 2026 bef\u00fcrchtet, dass sie \u2013 wie bei SEV-Angeboten h\u00e4ufig \u00fcblich \u2013 abgewiesen w\u00fcrden. Eine Stichprobe des ADFC zeigt jedoch: Die Mitnahme funktioniert, ist unkompliziert und wird von den eingesetzten Busunternehmen unterst\u00fctzt.<\/p>

\u201eDass Fahrr\u00e4der im SEV akzeptiert werden, ist ein wichtiges Signal f\u00fcr nachhaltige Mobilit\u00e4t im Rheingau\u201c, erkl\u00e4rt Elke Tegeler, Vorstandsmitglied des ADFC Wiesbaden\/Rheingau-Taunus. \u201eGerade hier, wo Rad- und Weintourismus eine gro\u00dfe Rolle spielen, ist die Kombination aus Bahn und Fahrrad essenziell. Umso erfreulicher ist es, dass VIAS und Deutsche Bahn diese M\u00f6glichkeit geschaffen haben.\u201c<\/p>

Der ADFC hatte bereits fr\u00fchzeitig auf die Bed\u00fcrfnisse der Radfahrenden w\u00e4hrend der monatelangen Sperrung hingewiesen und eine Mitnahmem\u00f6glichkeit gefordert. Dass diese nun umgesetzt wurde, zeigt: SEV kann fahrradfreundlich gestaltet werden. In vielen Regionen berichten Radfahrende von gegenteiligen Erfahrungen \u2013 verweigerter Mitnahme oder ungeeigneten Fahrzeugen. Die aktuelle L\u00f6sung im Rheingau beweist, dass es auch kundenfreundlich geht.<\/p>

Auf der Website der VIAS wird darauf hingewiesen, dass von einer Fahrradmitnahme montags bis freitags zwischen 6:00 und 20:00 Uhr sowie samstags und sonntags zwischen 6:00 und 23:00 Uhr abgeraten wird. Dieser Hinweis ist nachvollziehbar, da die Busse zu diesen Zeiten stark ausgelastet sind. Das verbleibende Zeitfenster f\u00fcr eine Mitnahme ist jedoch sehr klein und entspricht nicht den Mobilit\u00e4tsbed\u00fcrfnissen vieler Radfahrender \u2013 insbesondere von Pendlerinnen und Pendlern.<\/p>

Handlungsbedarf sieht der ADFC zudem bei den Abstellm\u00f6glichkeiten an neu eingerichteten SEV-Haltestellen. An mehreren Standorten fehlen sichere Fahrradabstellanlagen, etwa an der Haltestelle \u201eBurg Crass\u201c in Eltville. Gerade wenn Mitnahmem\u00f6glichkeiten eingeschr\u00e4nkt sein k\u00f6nnen, m\u00fcssen Radfahrende ihre R\u00e4der sicher abstellen k\u00f6nnen. ADFC und Polizei weisen darauf hin, dass stabile Abstellb\u00fcgel notwendig sind, um Fahrr\u00e4der mit Rahmen, Vorder- und Hinterrad anschlie\u00dfen zu k\u00f6nnen. \u201eAnschlie\u00dfen, nicht nur abschlie\u00dfen\u201c bleibt hier das zentrale Prinzip der Diebstahlpr\u00e4vention.<\/p>

Wie sich die Situation nach den Sommerferien entwickelt, wenn wieder mehr Pendlerinnen, Pendler und Sch\u00fcler unterwegs sind, bleibt abzuwarten. Der ADFC wird die Lage aufmerksam beobachten und steht bereit, gemeinsam mit VIAS und DB weitere Verbesserungen zu beraten.<\/p>

\u201eWir freuen uns \u00fcber dieses positive Signal und hoffen, dass die Fahrradmitnahme im SEV k\u00fcnftig \u00fcberall selbstverst\u00e4ndlich wird\u201c, so Tegeler weiter.<\/p>
