Reconstruction of Erich-Ollenhauer-Straße – An experience report
I have waited longer for the redesign of Erich-Ollenhauer-Straße. So far I have avoided the road with the bike rather. Now it was time for a new attempt: How does it feel there with the wheel? Definitely better!
There are clear barriers, where protective elements or wheel bars are directly attached, so that they really cannot be misused as a parking space. In addition, the cycle path is not only separated from the road by colour. As in Klarenthaler Straße and Rheinstraße, the cycle path is now run to the right of the parking lots. In addition, additional protective elements have been applied to the broad stroke. Marking and structural measures complement each other and make me feel safer on the bike path than before.
The only downside: Unfortunately, the cycle path in the direction of Dotzheim ends with an unprotected swivel. It seems as if the last few meters were simply forgotten in the otherwise consistent redesign. A missed opportunity for the overall impression, but this can still be changed when redesigning the rest of Erich-Ollenhauer-Straße!
