Feldberg challenge
On Tuesday, 21 July 2021, we took on the third challenge of the Feldberg Challenge by driving up the Feldberg from five different directions.
We (Artur, Joachim and I) met in the morning at 8 o'clock on top of the Feldberg. We drove from there to five different turning points and then drove up these points again. There are a total of 129 km and a good 3,100 vertical meters.
Our task was a little easier because there are practically no steep climbs. Only in Niederreifenberg is it sometimes with about 10% uphill, but apart from this short section, it is mostly with a maximum of 5% uphill.
Full of respect, we preferred to ride comfortably at the beginning, so that we do not leave the force prematurely. We drove in this order: Oberursel (it only goes uphill, we drive over patches of sand and get there from the south). Königstein (it only goes uphill, we cross the Red Cross and get there from the south). Niedernhausen (it is a longer, undulating journey, so it also goes downhill towards Feldberg, here too we cross the Red Cross). Schmitten (it only goes uphill, it's a short walk and we come from the north over patches of sand). Waldems-Esch (also this is a longer undulating approach, we drive over’s Red Cross and get there from the north). In the end we had made it in a driving time of 6:32 h and since we were consciously slower, we were still quite good at strength. And after this challenge, we can now call ourselves ‘Feldberg Kings’.
