First Reponder on Bike
First responders are specially trained and equipped volunteer first responders who can supplement the rescue chain in the event of life-threatening injuries or illnesses and initiate life-saving emergency measures even before the arrival of the regular rescue service. They also help with minor health problems such as insect bites, or minor falls.
In our region, First Responders on Bike of the German Red Cross, Bezirksverband Frankfurt a.M. (DRK) have been on the road since the very beginning. They are equipped with impressive emergency wheels with full first aid equipment. This is, for example, a device for blood pressure measurement, ventilator, dressing material or a tick removal kit. In addition, there is a defibrillator, fire extinguisher and water. Not to forget that the insert wheels have blue light and Euro signal horn.
Thanks to a powerful electric drive, these first aid pedelecs are fast on 4.0 all-terrain tyres despite their total weight of about 50 kilos.
As part of a free patrol service, the first responders help and advise on sunny weekends and public holidays, as well as mild summer evenings with high numbers of people on the Main, Nidda and Rhine. In addition, there is the use at major events.
We met on Sunday 18.05.2025 at the Ride4Future in Eltville, where the bicycle relay accompanied the Kidical Mass and then shared information about your work in the German Red Cross at the festival on the square of German unity.
This summer, the German Red Cross is planning operations with six first aid pedelecs. Donations for this are gladly accepted. Further support is also welcome. If you want to help, you can be trained as a first responder.
