Road bike tour through the Donnersbergkreis on 15 August 2021
As usual we started our tour through the Donnersbergkreis in Bad Münster am Stein. So we drove a good half hour train for the first time.
Our 130 km tour started with a detour to the Rhenish Hessian Switzerland: via Wonsheim, Mörsfeld, Wendelsheim, Niederwiesen and Bechenheim we drove to Selzquelle in Orbis, where we took our first rest.
We continued via Oberwiesen and Kriegfeld to the Forsthaus Pfalz. From there we enjoyed a wonderful long descent into the Appelbachtal, where we did not stay for long. We went straight on over a hill into the Alsenz valley and there to our second slightly longer rest at a gas station in Rockenhausen.
Susanne, Doro and Artur then considered shortening 20 km in Waldgrehweiler to drive from there directly via Gangloff to Ginsweiler in the Odenbachtal. From there it went gently downhill to Meisenheim and there always along the old railway line (today used by Draisinen) on the Glan to Odernheim.
Then we four met again and drove up the last climb of the tour to Duchroth together. From there it goes steeply down to Oberhausen an der Nahe and then always along the Nahe back to Bad Münster am Stein.
The heat had made us a little bit, but in the end we were all happy, because we enjoyed a very beautiful and varied landscape with many hills, valleys and a lot of forest.
