1. Biebrich cycling days

22-24 August 2025

As part of the traffic test to the car-free Rhine bank in Biebrich, where the Rheingaustraße between the street Am Parkfeld and Wilhelm-Kopp-Straße is closed on the first four weekends in August, the 1. Bicycling days are held. 

Come all to the banks of the Rhine and let yourself be enriched with joy by sustainable mobility ideas! We look forward to many meetings and exchanges. Politicians from various political groups have promised to come.

From 22.08. to 24.08. various activities around cycling in front of the customs warehouse (stop line 4 and 14 banks of the Rhine) are planned.

Friday, 22.08.2025

6 p.m.: Stage Frei – music the beer garden at the Zollspeicher

8.30 p.m.: Common Night ride (on the bike) to Eltville the International Cycling Festival Eroica in Eltville-Erbach.

Travel distance: approx. 11.5 km – 45 minutes. Beginning of the short films: 9.30 p.m. Afterwards or in between: Individual return journey

Saturday, 23.08.2025

Opening from 12 noon with a welcome speech by Dr. Hendrik Schmehl, Department of Finance, School and Culture of the state capital Wiesbaden

From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Upcycling Workshop with Jonas (6 years): We make noisemakers and paint posters for the Kidical Mass on Sunday. Please bring your “useful garbage” (pet bottles, caps, toilet paper rolls, etc.).

7:00 p.m.: Live music in front of the customs warehouse 

from 8.30 pm: Opening of the Oranierkirche: There you can bring your bikes and technically prepare for the premiere of a bicycle cinema in Biebrich (perhaps also in Wiesbaden), meet other cyclists and prepare for the film. 

!!! NEW!!! from 9 p.m.: Premiere for the Wiesbadener Bicycle cinema  in the Oranierkirche in Biebrich. You step on the pedals to watch a movie together with many others. The technology is provided by the team of  Solar Future e.V.

Our big request for this: 

Please bring your own bike that meets the following criteria: 

• size: 24 to 28 inch wheels (max. tire size 47-622 or 28×1.75)

• height adjustable saddles are advantageous

• profile: Only tyres with road profile. None Mountain bike profiles (due to noise)

• Rear axle must have a hat nut on both sides or a quick release on one side and a hat nut on the other side. 

Sunday, 24.08.2025

10 a.m.: Bicycle worship service in front of the customs warehouse with bicycle blessing. Everything is welcome. We want to come together in a special place and say thank you together. 

2.30 p.m.: Bridge-breaking bike ride from the cycle road at Schloss-Biebrich to City feelings festival in Mainz on the banks of the Rhine. There is also a sustainability festival on the banks of the Rhine and we want to build bridges with bicycles. The event is officially registered as a demonstration and will be accompanied by the police. We drive as a group and want to spread a lot of joy and confidence on the ride together. 

The planned route is almost 7 km and can be found on bikerouter.de. It is also very suitable for families and children due to the flat course. 

The closing rally is planned there around 3.30 p.m. Then we will disband the event and you will have the opportunity to City feelings festival Participate. The return trip to Biebrich is individual. Bicycle roads and paths are available to Biebrich.

The following feeder tour is definitely planned: 

We have a Feeder from Dern’s premises set up at 1 p.m.. So we arrive at about 1:45 pm in Biebrich and is still some time to get an ice cream and enjoy the car-free Rhine shore.
