ADFC Wiesbaden invites you to the colourful bicycle demo series – kick-off on 3 May at Dern’sche Gelände for safer roads and easy mobility
Wiesbaden, 22.04.2026 – Children’s laughter, colourful bicycles and a strong signal for the turnaround in transport: The KIDICAL MASS returns to Wiesbaden in 2026. The ADFC Wiesbaden / Rheingau-Taunus e.V. is once again organising three major cycling demonstrations this year under the motto ‘Place there for the next generation!’. The aim is to draw attention to the needs of the smallest road users and to demand an infrastructure on which children and young people can move safely and independently.
“We want a city where parents can let their children cycle to school or sports without fear,” explains the organising team of KIDICAL MASS Wiesbaden. “Roads are for everyone, but currently the car still dominates. With KIDICAL MASS, we are making the demand for child-friendly roads visible in the truest sense of the word.”
Dates and route
The bike demonstrations start at 15:00 at Dern’sche Gelände. The police secure the entire route so that even the smallest participants can ride on wheels or in the child seat at a relaxed pace.
- Sunday, 03 May 2026: Start with finish at the slaughterhouse
- Saturday 13 June 2026: This ride takes place as part of the STADTRADELN 2026 – an ideal opportunity to collect kilometres together for a bicycle-friendly Wiesbaden
- Sunday, 20th September 2026
Background ‘KIDICAL MASS’
The KIDICAL MASS is a form of action for children- and bicycle-friendly cities, which was invented in 2008 in Oregon (USA). The first German KIDICAL MASS demos were organized by families in 2017 and 2018 in Berlin, Darmstadt, Stuttgart and Cologne. In 2019, a KIDICAL MASS took place in Wiesbaden for the first time as part of city cycling.
Participation for all
The KIDICAL MASS is open to all: Families, friends, neighbours and supporters of sustainable mobility. The organizers call for the wheels to be decorated with posters, balloons and colorful accessories in order to set an unmistakable sign for a more livable Wiesbaden.
