Ghost wheel for killed cyclist in Wiesbaden-Schierstein – bicycle demonstration and vigil on 7 October
Wiesbaden, 2 October 2025 – On 29 September 2025, a female cyclist was fatally injured in a turning accident in Wiesbaden-Schierstein. In order to commemorate the deceased and draw attention to the dangers for cyclists in road traffic, a commemorative event with a ghost wheel will take place on Tuesday, 7 October, from 5:30 p.m.
The action begins with a bicycle demonstration at Wiesbaden main station and leads to the scene of the accident in Schierstein. There, a white-painted bicycle is erected as a memorial for the killed cyclist. Candles, flowers and a minute's silence are meant to commemorate the victim.
If you want to join the memorial and vigil, you are asked to wear white or light clothing.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased cyclist. We call for a consistent turnaround in transport, making Vision Zero – zero road deaths – a reality through safe cycling infrastructure. This is the only way to prevent such tragic accidents in the future", says Michéle Fleckenstein, Member of the Board of ADFC Wiesbaden/Rheingau-Taunus.
